To track website traffic you need analytics software. That anonymously logs every visitor to your site and keeps track of their actions. One of the most popular analytics apps is Google Analytics. It’s free, but there can be a learning curve in getting it set up correctly. If you don’t add your tracking code the right way, then you won’t be able to track your traffic. Consider getting an analytics expert to help you create the right setup for your website.

People want to speak their minds and weigh in on subjects they feel passionately about, so building a community into your site is a great way to start a conversation and increase traffic to your website. Implement a robust commenting system through third-party solutions such as Facebook comments or Disqus, or create a dedicated forum where visitors can ask questions. Don’t forget to manage your community to ensure that minimum standards of decorum are met, however.

I really enjoyed your post, im building my own business from the ground up making custom furniture, lighting, and home decor. it took me a year to launch my website and now im trying to invite more traffic and ways for clients and interested parties to share my content and start buying my product. I liked the idea of Share triggers… im going to be incorporating that into my social media strategies. Any advice would go a long way. thanks again Brian
Not sure exactly why, perhaps I used a number too big and since my page is about classifieds, it probably seemed too much to browse through 1500 ads, I assume? Somewhat like you would post 800 tips for better ranking? Don’t know, will try to change things a bit and see how it goes, but you really gave me some new suggestions to go for with this article. Thanks again 🙂
Use great titles for your content, titles which tempt or create curiosity – “How I got my website to load in 1.29 seconds” vs “Decrease your website load time”. Think “How I made Google my bitch!” vs “Improve your search engine rankings”. If necessary spend a lot of time  titles – they are the portals to your website. Especially if you want great Social Media traffic, you'll need to find titles which trigger emotional responses. Curiosity. Shock. Anger. Eagerness. Empathy.
Disclosure: CollectiveRay is funded personally out of pure passion for helping people working with websites. We do however generate some income through recommendations of products. This means if you click on a link and purchase an item we link to, we will receive a small sum out of that sale. We usually partner with vendors to make your purchase cheaper than buying direct.
“After enough time in the trenches, I’m a bit tired of the whole ‘I’ll scratch your back if you scratch mine’ mentality. So my goal is to show you how to scratch YOUR OWN back and be self reliant in your success and results moving forward. Best part of this? You get to be your OWN person… and follow your own path to the riches that will follow.” –Mark Tandan
This particular site isn’t really an automatic traffic generator. Instead, it’s an old, long-running network for email lists. The idea is to build an email list independent of SEO or Google, which frees you from the rigors of content marketing. You still need to work to generate leads, and you still need a website to pull in opt-ins, but FFA gives you a wide range of tools you can use to succeed. For example, a heat map and Google Analytics integration ensures the system gives you all the information you need to succeed. You can split-test as many as 100 variants on a given page, to make sure you’re using the best one. And, of course, the network is old and long-running, meaning it has a positive reputation and a history of being effective. You can find plenty of support from the staff and other users.
When someone visits a website, their computer or other web-connected device communicates with the website's server. Each page on the web is made up of dozens of distinct files. The site's server transmits each file to user browsers where they are assembled and formed into a cumulative piece with graphics and text. Every file sent represents a single “hit”, so a single page viewing can result in numerous hits.

2. Engage yourself in guest blogging to websites belonging to your niche. Blogs are a great source for traffic, guest post on quality blogs can bring back traffic from those blogs. Commenting on blogs can also deliver back links but remember do not blindly comment on every other blog, post the comments only when you have something important to deliver.
A widespread tool for traffic analysis is SimilarWeb, owned by the Israeli SimilarGroup: upon entering the domain you will receive the most diverse data straight away. The tool reminds us a bit of Google Analytics with regard to the scope and data formatting. The way these analysis results are displayed is extremely helpful: for example, they show the temporal development of traffic and the various traffic channels, like social media, direct traffic, or e-mail. There is even a breakdown of the most relevant social media channels: you gain a lot of information about the online strategy of your competitors.
1. Participate and showcase your website in every social media platform. But it should not be restricted to just creating a page, you should create a healthy relations with your customers. Make them sense that you care for their time. Creating special video or audio tutorials can create this impression. Share creative and useful content on all of your pages. Reply to their queries as soon as possible. Add social network bottoms on your website, preferably at the end of every post.
A good example of a basic but highly functional website would probably be Majestecsocal.com. However, the exact type of design you should be considering depends on your target audience and niche. In some niches (like the one the example website is based around), users would want to have everything in one place, and hence a basic but very functional design would hit the spot pretty well.
Shane Farrell is the “been there, done that” guy in the IM space. From SEO to Amazon and plenty in between, he eventually settled on list building and never looked back. Also a successful solo ad vendor and partner in one of the largest SMS companies back in the day, he’s since turned to sharing his personal techniques for list building by releasing quality products that have been smash hits in the market. Figures on a free website traffic checker are never completely accurate – tests have shown there may be considerable deviations. Therefore, you should always consider the results as estimates and guidelines. The tools are more suitable for a quick traffic comparison of different websites than for determining precise key figures. Important: to ensure that the comparison is also meaningful, it is best to always use the same tool – otherwise the results can be heavily falsified.
Wow, it was interesting reading this post. To hear all the different opinions made me realize that there are so many opportunities to generate traffic. I have been using Twitter and SEO to promote my blog posts and it has worked well for me. After reading this, I will bookmark this page and study some of these other options carefully. Thanks for sharing
Buying website traffic shouldn't be a replacement for SEO and other conventional methods of online marketing, but it can certainly give you that edge you need in the highly competitive online market. You can improve your Alexa ranking, time on site and lower bounce rate, but most importantly - it will drive potential clients and bring your website in front of your target audience long before you will see the first results of your conventional marketing strategies.
#6 Go on podcasts! In 13 years of SEO and digital marketing, I’ve never had as much bang for the buck. You go on for 20 minutes, get access to a new audience and great natural links on high dwell time sites (hosts do all the work!). Thanks for including this tip Brian, I still don’t think the SEO community has caught on to the benefits of podcast guesting campaigns for SEO and more…it’s changed my business for sure.

Hey Brian I must say it’s a awesome content you are sharing .my question to you is how did you transform from a nutrition expert to a Seo master I mean both subjects are poles apart so how did you learn SEO can you share your story because I find my self in similar situation I am an engineer by profession and I am starting a ecommerce business niche is Apparel no experience of watspever in Blog writing and SEO if you can throw some resources where I can improve my skills that would be a huge help
Email marketing is one of the most effective ways for a small business to reach out to customers. Get started on your email marketing program by setting goals that support your overall marketing and business goals. Collect customer names and email addresses to build your business’s email list; you can do this by collecting them in-store or on your website.

Finally, another important thing you would want to keep in mind is that on-page optimization also includes the design and functionality of your website. If your website sports a 90s design, or makes it a struggle for the users to find what they are looking for, it’s definitely going to hurt your chances of not only getting targeted traffic through SEO, but also converting the traffic into leads and sales.

Hi, my name is Dimitrios and I am responsible for Crave Culinaire’s digital marketing. I would like to drive more traffic to Crave’s blog. Since Crave Culinaire is the only catering company who provides molecular cuisine, I thought about craving a blog post about that. The influencers in this niche have great success in utilizing recipes on their blogs. I will share some recipes of Brian Roland, owner and head chef of Crave Culinaire.

Gone are the days when a product page or blog post or two could serve as your sole lead-generation assets for the month. Nowadays, with more and more content on more and more websites, the bar has been raised for both the quality of your content, and the frequency with which you update your site’s content. Quantity applies to generally keeping the interest of your readers, but more importantly, it keeps the search engines fed and happy, and keeps your business coming up in search results.

Writing a list post on your blog, a life lesson, publishing a roundup, focusing on a money keyword and writing tons of posts around are some of the tactics that can double your traffic generation efforts. You will also find tips to convert one blog post idea into 10, the optimum length of the post to drive more clicks and links and much more in this Neil Patel and Sherice Jacob’s guide.
Wow Brian, You have solved my problem. A few days back I was looking for ways to increase traffic on my tech blog, I found this blog post by you while I was looking out for possible tricks to increase traffic. I must say that few of the tricks mentioned above really worked for me. For example, I updated a few old posts on my blog, I did try the broken link building technique and the last I did was to repost my content on Medium.

What will you do with the traffic you get through above suggested ways? Nothing? Then you`re wasting your time and money. Capture their email address when they visit your blog. I`d recommend Aweber, recently I too got it and I must say it`s very easy to use and manage your list. You can read our earlier guide on how to create a mailing list using Aweber, and use any of these email marketing WordPress plugin to supercharge your list.

The traffic generation tip from Henneke Duistermaat – (from EnchantingMarketing website) it’s not based on traffic source to bring new visitors to website. Actually it is only based on how to keep their regular visitors and make they return to website again. She don’t explain how she brought new visitors to a website…. The others tips are very good.
The Quantcast tool is still relatively new – at least in comparison to SimilarWeb and SEMRush. Regardless, it offers high quality, relatively accurate traffic analyses. Although figures may not be exact, they are still absolutely on the right track. There are also advantages to having detailed information about the target group. An example of Quantcasts abilities:

Great article as always. My wife is about to start a business about teaching (mainly) Mums how to film and edit little movies of their loved ones for posterity (www.lovethelittlethings.com launching soon). We have always struggled with thinking of and targeting relevant keywords because keywords like ‘videography’ and ‘family movies’ don’t really some up what she is about. Your article ties in with other learnings we have come across where we obviously need to reach out to right people and get them to share to get her product out there because purely focusing on keywords I don’t think will get us anywhere.
